Stockport CVS and Volunteer Centre working together to provide a quality service to the people of Stockport by supporting, promoting and developing voluntary action.
Sector Development: building and sustaining the capacity of local community groups and voluntary organisations, through the provision of a wide range of services.
Developing Partnerships and Influence: engaging in the key partnerships in Stockport, supporting effective representation of the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) through local networks.
Volunteering: encouraging the involvement of local people in voluntary and community activity; providing a brokerage service to the public and supporting good practise in volunteer involving organisations.
The Volunteer Centre supports the volunteer services and groups in Stockport.
We deal with volunteering enquiries and advertise new volunteering opportunities on to the National Volunteering website - www.do-it.org.uk
We hold an annual Volunteers’ Reception during Volunteers’ week, which last year was held at Stockport Football Club and was attended by 228 people.
We have a quarterly Liaison Group meeting for volunteer involving organisations. A range of training is provided around issues such as new guidance on criminal record bureau checks; supporting, motivating and developing volunteers and managing challenges.

This project is a partnership between SCVS and Stockport Council, combining SCVS’s contact and experience with the Voluntary and Community Sector in Stockport with the skills and time available from Stockport Council employees. It aims to enable employees to develop new and existing skills while benefitting local groups.

Youth Action Stockport works with young people aged 14 – 25 with ongoing funding from BBC Children in Need and Vinvolved, which is a national volunteering programme.
YAS delivers creative volunteering projects for young people across the borough and also helps to find volunteering roles in charitable organisations and community groups that best suit the interests and aspirations of the young people. We work with current and potential volunteer involving organisations to provide and develop new and exciting opportunities.

IMPACT provides a range of services to support the overall health and wellbeing of local people in Stockport:
IMPACT awards grants to community groups for health and well-being projects and facilitates workshops and training events, like Basic Self Defence and Emergency 1st Aid.
Impact supports community events and runs networking opportunities through IMPACT meetings.
